Compulsive Hoarding: Special FREE NSGCD TeleClass Open to ALL Professionals Working with Hoarders!

Over the last couple years, I have been so deeply touched by people living with hoarding or severe clutter and disorganization, and also very frustrated with the lack of resources to help them.  There are very few resources to learn to help them as well.  I have become deeply committed to helping address this gap in understanding and resources to serve people suffering with chronic disorganization, severe cluttering, and / or compulsive hoarding and acquiring.

To that end, I am currently enrolled in the NSGCD Certified Professional Organizer - Chronic Disorganization (CPO-CD) program. It's a one year intensive program and relatively new (Fewer than 30 people currently hold that credential.)  I'm also enrolled in Denslow Brown and Cameron Gott's The Coach Approach for Organizers Program from January to March.

As part of that, I am also committed to publicizing any resources I find to help others help people with chronic disorganization, severe cluttering, and / or compulsive hoarding and acquiring.  That is why you will be seeing lots more on the subject as I learn more about it and why I have created these pages on my blog to keep track of resources I encounter.  I apologize for their unpolished appearance but will be cleaning them up when I can : )

  • ADD & ADHD Resource List
  • Compulsive Hoarding Service Provider Referral Directory
  • Help for Hoarders, Clutterers & Compulsive Shoppers
  • Please let me know if you have any resources to add, including any websites, blogs and/or your services as a therapist, psychiatrist, coach or professional organizer.

Now:  Here is the info about the Special, FREE teleclass from NSGCD for all service professionals working with hoarders.

    ___________________________________________

A recent flurry of media has drawn a great attraction to our fields as professional organizers, coaches, therapists, and other governmental-type agencies. As zealots to the cause it is understandable that we all want to help. However, not all organizers are aware of the many psychological and other complexities involving a compulsive hoarding situation.

Likewise, many psychotherapists and other related professionals are not all aware of the significantly beneficial value that organizers (as the front-liners); can bring to the success of a hoarding situation. As such, without sufficient education on this complex subject, all of us as professionals also have the potential to create untold hardship to our clients and irreparable damage to the credibility of our respective industries.

This special class is for All Professionals, either working with or interested in working with, compulsive hoarding and/or acquiring individuals. By offering this teleclass, the NSGCD is taking the first step in an attempt to bring all forces and experts together.

We hope this overview teleclass will encourage everyone to proceed with eyes wide open, to investigate through education, to do no harm, and to reach out to one another in mutual collaboration.
